How to Use OPAC
Guidelines for Searching Books in Koha OPAC
Access the OPAC:
Open your browser and navigate to your library's Koha OPAC URL.
Use the Search Bar:
The main search bar allows you to enter keywords, titles, authors, Call No or ISBNs.
Basic vs. Advanced Search:
Basic Search: For quick searches using general keywords.
Advanced Search: Offers more options to refine your search by selecting specific fields like author, title, subject, or publication date.
Apply Filters:
After searching, use filters to narrow your results by format (e.g., book, e-book), language, or availability (e.g., available, checked out).
Sort Results:
Sort your results by relevance, title, author, or publication date for easier navigation.
View Item Details:
Click on any title to see more information, including summaries, publication details, and availability status.
Check Availability:
Review the availability status (e.g., available, on hold, checked out) for each item.
Place Holds:
If the book is unavailable, you can often place a hold to be notified when it is returned.
Use Account Features:
If you have an account, utilize features like creating lists, saving searches, or checking your borrowing history.
Seek Help if Needed:
If you have questions or encounter issues, refer to the help section or contact library staff for assistance.
